Home » Industrial RO Membranes

The 2540 reverse osmosis (RO) membrane is a standard-sized membrane element widely used in industrial and commercial water treatment. Its slender design makes it ideal for small- to medium-sized water treatment systems, ensuring sufficient membrane surface area while allowing for convenient and flexible configuration.
What does “2540” mean?
In the reverse osmosis industry, the naming of membrane elements is typically highly standardized.
- “25”: Indicates that the outer diameter of the membrane element is approximately 2.5 inches (about 63.5 mm).
- “40”: Indicates that the length of the membrane element is approximately 40 inches (about 1016 mm).
Description

- High Desalination Rate
Stable desalination rates typically reach 99.0%–99.5% or higher, effectively rejecting dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, and organic matter present in the water.
- Compact Structure
Compared to large-scale industrial 8040 membranes (8-inch diameter), 2540 membranes are smaller and lighter, making assembly and replacement of individual units very convenient.

Applications
The 2540 reverse osmosis membrane is widely used in small-to-medium-sized pure water production systems (with output capacities typically ranging from several hundred liters to a few tons per hour).
- Commercial Pure Water Systems
Centralized direct drinking water systems for schools, hospitals, office buildings, and hotels.
- Industrial Pre-treatment for Electronic/Chemical Ultrapure Water
Serves as the primary desalination barrier for high-precision deionized water systems.
- Food and Beverage Water
Purification of water used in food processing, beverage preparation, and brewing.
- Boiler Feedwater Softening and Desalination
Prevents scaling in small-to-medium-sized boilers and extends equipment service life.
- Small Laboratory Pure Water Systems
Provides basic pure water for laboratory analysis.
