What Does “4040” Mean?

In the RO membrane industry, the four-digit naming convention directly corresponds to the physical dimensions of the element:

“40”: Represents a nominal outer diameter of 4.0 inches (approx. 101.6 mm).

“40”: Represents a nominal length of 40 inches (approx. 1016 mm).

Compared to smaller membrane elements like the 2540, the 4040 reverse osmosis membrane offers a larger effective membrane area and higher permeate output, allowing for a reduction in the number of elements and improved system operational efficiency. Compared to the 8040 element, it entails lower equipment investment and a smaller footprint, making it better suited for medium-scale water treatment systems.

Description

The 4040 reverse osmosis membrane utilizes advanced polyamide thin-film composite (TFC) technology, delivering high permeate flow, high salt rejection, and stable, long-lasting performance. It effectively removes dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, organic matter, and other impurities, providing a continuous and reliable supply of high-quality purified water for various commercial and industrial water systems.
