Home » Industrial RO Membranes

The 2514 reverse osmosis (RO) membrane is a specific type of industrial-grade RO membrane element. Compared to the common 4040 (4-inch diameter × 40-inch length) or 8040 large industrial membranes, the 2514 is a specialized membrane element characterized by its small size and short length.
What does “2514” mean?
The naming of reverse osmosis membranes typically follows international standard size codes.
- “25”: Indicates that the outer diameter of the membrane element is 2.5 inches (approximately 63.5 mm).
- “14”: Indicates that the length of the membrane element is 14 inches (approximately 355.6 mm).
Description

- High Desalination Rate
Industrial-grade 2514 membranes typically offer a stable desalination rate exceeding 99.0%–99.5%, effectively reducing conductivity.
- Compact Design
The short 14-inch length makes them ideal for installation in equipment cabinets with limited space or compact height and length requirements.
- Low Permeate Flow per Element
Due to the relatively small membrane surface area, the permeate flow rate for a single 2514 membrane is typically around 150 to 200 gallons per day (GPD).

Applications
Due to its unique “short and stout” dimensions, the 2514 membrane is typically not used in large-scale water treatment plants; instead, it is widely employed in small-to-medium-sized or mobile water treatment systems that have specific constraints regarding space and output capacity.
- Laboratory Ultrapure Water Systems
Serves as a core component for pretreatment or primary reverse osmosis stages.
- Commercial Water Purification Equipment
Used in small-scale pure water systems for locations such as office buildings, restaurants, and schools.
- Vehicle- and Marine-Based Desalination Units (Seawater and Brackish Water)
Its compact design makes it ideal for mobile environments with strict space limitations, such as ships and recreational vehicles (RVs).
- Integration with Construction Machinery and Industrial Equipment
Designed for integration into automated industrial equipment that requires small quantities of purified water.
