In baghouse dust collection systems, when handling gas streams characterized by high humidity, oil mists, or sticky particulates, dust tends to adhere to the filter bag surface. It combines with moisture and oil to form a sticky filter cake, which reduces the filter medium’s permeability, complicates dust cleaning, and can even lead to severe “blinding” (or caking) of the bags. Subjecting needle-punched felt to water- and oil-repellent treatments effectively lowers the wettability of the fiber surface, minimizes the adhesion of moisture, oil, and sticky dust, enhances operational stability under complex conditions, and extends the service life of the filter bags.
Description

Filmedia® provides professional water and oil repellent treatment for needle felts such as polyester and aramid. By reducing the surface wettability of fibers, this treatment significantly improves the filter media’s moisture resistance, anti-adhesion performance, and dust release properties, making it ideal for demanding industrial dust filtration applications involving high humidity, high dust loading, condensation, and bag blinding risks.
Water- and Oil-Repellent Treatment
Utilizing a water-repellent agent as the core material, the filter medium undergoes a comprehensive modification process via impregnation. The agent uniformly coats each fiber, creating a dense molecular protective barrier on the fiber surface; this effectively lowers the critical surface tension, imparting excellent hydrophobic and oleophobic properties to the medium. The modified needle-punched felt exhibits a biomimetic “lotus leaf” effect, effectively blocking water droplets, oil droplets, and dust stains from penetrating the inner fiber layers, thereby keeping the medium dry and clean over the long term. Compared to standard, unmodified filter media, it offers a superior surface texture and enhanced flatness.
